we got 2 new chix today! the light brahma is durga and the golden laced wyandotte is little darla. we get 2 more tomorrow!

we went to the arb for a saturday morning walk.

on valentines day helio got a special treat. he was able to enjoy solid food for the first time. his special meal was steamed sweet potato with a touch of olive oil and then pureed to a wonderful smooth consistency. i think he really liked it!

peps

kava, helio, and I have been part of this peps group for new parents. we just ended our regular weekly meetings after about 3 months. it was really helpful for us to hear from other new parents about what was going on. this is a pic from our last meeting. all the kids are so much bigger now.

post holiday wrap up

this blogging thing is hard. It's been a very long time since we posted any new material. Sorry about the slacker-dom. with the holidays and what not tossed in time got away from us.

we spent a nice few days down in half moon bay for the holidays. helio got to meet a bunch new relatives that he'd never met before, he experienced a plane trip for the first time, as well as the holiday travel hassles. we had the opportunity to have date night while helio had the opportunity to spend quality time with grandma and grandpa and aunt mei and uncle kevin. we were all pretty tired from the fun when we returned. but, thankfully, there wasn't any snow.


This is helio's first present that he opened. we let him open a few before christmas day. he was excited about is cool new design pop-up book!


he was also excited by his first stocking at nai nai's and grandpa's.

snow day! deux

update from this morning...

notice the pot in front of the car. It's about 12" tall. The snow has now made it up to the bottom of the car.

so, seattle's been getting this crazy snow storm the last week or so. seriously, it's the biggest snow storm of the year. it's been about a week since temps were above freezing, and for a few days they only ventured up into the 20s. today's it's been snowing all day and here's the evidence. the snow is a lot of fun, but it tends to wreak havoc on daycare and the bus. i'm sitting at home right now because all my bus options were canceled or are running on hour delays.

and this is yesterday late morning. it continued to snow the rest of the day.

drool

helio can produce an amazing amount of drool. it drips out in long streams and is usually completely clear. hard to get a picture of, though. this was this best I could do. much cuter than this drooler.

thanksgiving

well, it's been a week since thanksgiving now. i'm not sure why the time passes by so quickly. here's a few pictures. there's not many since helio wasn't in the greatest spirits that day.

but quickly went downhill...



and eventually, well, everyone was tired...



a few days later though, we decided to put helio in the high chair. it's still a little big for him...



but he loves sitting in it...
